Dr. Lesley Ma from the Department of Modern and Contemporary Art at The Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met) in New York visited on October 23, 2025, and was received by President Chun-i Chen. Dr. Ma is the inaugural Ming Chu Hsu and Daniel Xu Curator of Asian Art in the Department of Modern and Contemporary Art. In addition to her responsibilities in collecting, interpreting, and displaying artworks as well as organizing exhibitions, Dr. Ma works closely with other departments within the museum. When President Chen visited The Met in August this year, Dr. Ma was unable to receive him in person due to other pressing commitments, she therefore took the opportunity of her trip back to Taiwan for a conference to call upon President Chen. During the visit, Dr. Ma also sought to learn more about the Foundation’s grants in the American Region and explored the possibility of applying for funding in the future.
