Congratulations to Grant Recipient Professor Ya-wen Lei for being Named as a Recipient of the 2021 Gordon White Prize

May 24, 2022

The Foundation is pleased to announce that one of our grant recipients from the American Region, Dr. Ya-wen Lei, associate professor of sociology at Harvard University, has been awarded the 2021 Gordon White Prize for her article “Publics, Scientists and the State: Mapping the Global Human Genome Editing Controversy” (The China Quarterly, No. 246, June 2021, pp. 400-427). This prize, awarded annually for the most original article published in The China Quarterly, commemorates the achievements of Gordon White (1942-1998), who earned great distinction for his analysis of modern Chinese politics and society as well as his efforts in promoting teaching and research on China. Dr. Lei’s project was supported by a Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation Scholar Grant. The Foundation is deeply proud of Professor Lei’s outstanding accomplishments having earned recognition in the form of this great honor.
