Atlas of Population Dynamics in China from 1600~1850, subdivided by Period, and County or Prefecture

This project was based on earlier research that analyzed age-specific mortality, nuptiality, and fertility for women in late imperial China by prefecture or county, based on the “virtuous women” (列女) sections of local gazetteers from three areas. This project expanded the sample size to 30 counties and prefectures, with findings sub-divided by fifty-year periods according to social status. There is also data on local environmental, socioeconomic, and epidemiological conditions.
