Former Board Member Mr. Samuel Yin Passes Away
May 26, 2026
The Foundation was deeply saddened to learn that Mr. Samuel Yin, former board member of the Foundation and President of the Ruentex Group, passed away in the early morning of May 26 at the age of 76.
Mr. Yin was deeply committed to education and scientific research and devoted himself generously to the advancement of academia. In 2012, he founded the internationally renowned Tang Prize to encourage leading scholars worldwide to pursue research in four major fields—Sustainable Development, Biopharmaceutical Science, Sinology, and Rule of Law—for the betterment of humanity. During his service on our Board of Directors, his active sponsorship of academic grants, invaluable assistance in planning the Ching-kuo Chi-hai Cultural Park, and generous in-kind donations contributed immensely to the Foundation. The Foundation’s board members, supervisors, and colleagues feel deep sorrow at the news of his passing, while cherishing his distinguished record of achievement.
