Congratulations to Grant Recipient Professor Cheng Yang for being Named as a Recipient of IEHA Dissertation Prize

20231130The Foundation is pleased to announce that one of our grant recipients from the European Region, Professor Cheng Yang, assistant professor of economic history at Renmin University of China, has been awarded the 2022 IEHA (International Economic History Association) Dissertation Prize at the 19th World Economic History Congress on July 29, 2022.

The World Economic History Congress convenes every 3-4 years, awarding the "IEHA Dissertation Prize" to encourage young scholars. Doctoral dissertations submitted for this competition were completed between June 2017 and August 2021. They were divided into three categories for evaluation: “Ancient/Medieval/Early Modern,” “Long Nineteenth Century”, and “Twentieth Century”. Dr. Yang Cheng’s dissertation belongs to the category of "Long Nineteenth Century", and the topic is “The Occupational Structure of Late Imperial China, 1736-1898”.

Professor Yang was a recipient of the Foundation’s Doctoral Fellowship in European Region. His research interests include topics of the occupational structure of the Chinese population and long-term economic development, and comparative social and economic history. The Foundation is deeply proud of Professor Yang’s outstanding accomplishments having earned recognition in the form of this great honor.
