Dr. Puente-Ballesteros’s award

The Foundation wishes to extend its heartiest congratulations to one of its Doctoral Dissertation Fellows, Dr. Beatriz Puente-Ballesteros, for having been awarded two prestigious prizes for her doctoral dissertation entitled “From Paris to Pekin, from Pekin to Paris: The French Jesuit Mission as Medical Interlocutor during the Kangxi Reign (r. 1662-1722)”(De Paris a Pekin, de Pekin a Paris: La Mision jesuita francesca como interlocutor medico en la Chine de la era Kangxi [r. 1662-1722]), completed at Complutense University of Madrid in 2009. The two prizes are: 1) Prize for the Best Doctorate in the Academic Year 2008-2009 ( Premio Extraordinario de Doctorado 2008-2009) at the Faculty of Medicine of Complutense University of Madrid, and 2) Hernandez Morejon Prize for the Best Doctoral Dissertation in the History of Medicine ( Premio Hernandez Morejon to the Best Ph.D. in History of Medicine) awarded by the Spanish Society of History of Medicine in 2010. Dr. Puente-Ballesteros is currently undertaking a postdoctoral fellowship at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, which is also being funded by the Foundation.
