Senior Scholar Grants
This program supports full professors or senior scholars wishing to take one year's sabbatical leave in order to do research and writing. Senior scholar grants, which range up to EUR40,000, are intended to supplement a professor's sabbatical pay. A letter of recommendation from the chairman of the department, the dean of the college, or the provost of university should be included in the application. Only a limited number of senior scholar grants are available annually.
The Foundation's grants provide support for research on Chinese Studies in the humanities and social sciences.
Funding is not provided for capital equipment (including computers and printers), building design, construction, or maintenance.
Funding is not available for university administrative costs including overhead or endowments.
Foundation funds can only be transferred to and managed by institutional accounts. Letters of support from the applicant's institution must express the institution's willingness to comply with these procedures.
Applicants who already hold a two-year research grant are not eligible to apply for a senior scholar grant that would run concurrently with that grant. 6. The Foundation encourages applications with matching funds from other sources.
When preparing itemized budgets, please use Euros as the unit of currency.
