Publication Subsidies 

 

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

Academic publishers may apply for subsidies for the publication of scholarly works related to the goals of the Foundation. The publication may be in the form of a book or a monograph. Applications will be accepted for completed book manuscripts, but not for books in a series. Supporting documents should include reviewers' comments and publishing costs. Publication budgets should not exceed EUR10,000.

For periodicals and journals, the Foundation will support one year's worth of publication. The application for the publication of conference proceedings requires a completed, edited draft.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  1.  The Foundation's grants provide support for research on Chinese Studies in the humanities and social sciences.

  2.  Funding is not available for university administrative costs including overhead or endowments.

  3.  The Foundation does not subsidize administrative expenses or the purchase of equipment. 

  4.  Foundation funds can only be transferred to and managed by institutional accounts. Letters of support from the applicant's institution must express the institution's willingness to comply with these procedures.

  5.  The Foundation encourages applications with matching funds from other sources.

  6.  When preparing itemized budgets, please use Euros as the unit of currency.

  7.  NEW: The Foundation reserves the right to post project abstracts and reports on its websites.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

  1. Applicants should apply directly to  the Foundation's Taipei headquarters:

  2. All applications must include the following items, in the order listed below:
    a. A one-page summary of the proposed project;
    b. A detailed itemized budget (If this sum is to be supplemented by matching funds, please include this information in the budget);
    c. A description of the proposed project of no more than 7 pages in length.

  3. All applications should also include curriculum vitae of the project director and any co-directors, as well as lists of publications over the last five years related to the proposed project, and any relevant supporting materials.

  4. Three copies of each application are required. Late applications will be returned to senders. NEW: In addition, enclose electronic version of all application materials on diskette or send as e-mail attachment to: cckf@ms1.hinet.net with heading "Application Materials from (Name)" in the header of the message.

DEADLINES

  1. The deadlines for Publication Subsidy Grant applications are
    September 15—for Publication Subsidy from January through June of the following year;
    February 15—for Publication Subsidy from July through December of the same year.

  2. Final results for applications made before September 15 are announced in December. Results of applications submitted for the February 15 deadline are announced in May.
