Distinguished Lectureships

 

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

Universities or academic institutions may apply for funds to sponsor eminent foreign scholars to come to Taiwan to take up lectureships or positions as visiting scholars. The maximum grant duration is one year, and NT$2,000,000 is the maximum grant amount. 

For all activities related to the lectures, the title "Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation for Scholarly Exchange Eminent Scholar Lectureship" must be used. The Foundation reserves the right to publish the contents of the lectures.

Application materials must include: 

  1. Letters of support from the applicant's home institution, the cooperating foreign institution, and the cooperating foreign co-director.

  2. Application form, including project abstract (in Chinese and English), project description, and budget.

  3. Curriculum vitae of the invited scholar, including a list of publications over the last five years that are related to the proposed lectures.

  4. Three letters of recommendation.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  1. Applications should not exceed the limits for grant amounts and grant   duration as stated in the program descriptions given above.

  2. Project directors who are currently receiving Foundation aid are ineligible to apply.

  3. Project directors may not submit more than one application. Please inform the Foundation if applying for financial assistance from other organizations at the same time. If a project director receives aid from another source after the Foundation has already decided to support the project, please inform the Foundation within 7 days after being informed by the alternate funding organization.

  4. The Foundation does not subsidize the salaries of project directors or their overseas co-directors.

  5. The Foundation does not subsidize administrative expenses.

  6. Foundation funds can only be transferred to and managed by institutional accounts. Letters of support from the applicant's institution must express the institution's willingness to comply with these procedures.

  7. For transportation, please use the most direct flights possible in economy class.

  8. For personnel, travel, fieldwork investigations, questionnaires, and other research expenses, please refer to the standard set by the  National Science Council.

  9. For projects that exceed one year, please provide a year-by-year breakdown of budget expenditures.

  10. When preparing the itemized budget, please use New Taiwan Dollars as the unit of currency.

  11. If there are other co-directors on the project, please also include their curriculum vitae, lists of relevant publications and letters of agreement along with the other materials required above.

  12. NEW: The Foundation reserves the right to post project abstracts and reports on its websites.
     

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

  1. Applicants must use the application forms provided by the Foundation.

  2. Three copies of the application and supporting materials must be  submitted. Send the application by registered mail to the Secretariat. NEW: In addition, enclose electronic version of all application materials on diskette or send as e-mail attachment to: cckf@ms1.hinet.net with heading "Application Materials from (Name)" in the header of the message.

DEADLINE

  1. The application period for Lectureship grants  is from June 1 to October 15. Applications mailed after October 15 will not  be accepted.

  2. A list of grant recipients will be announced in May of the year following the October deadline. For applications which do not receive funding, the Foundation will inform the institutions and project directors within seven days after the results are made public, and the original application materials will be returned to the applicants. For  applications that do receive support, the Foundation will inform the institutions and project directors as quickly as possible in order to arrange for contracts to be signed.
