Unlike grant applications submitted from outside of Taiwan,
applications from scholars affiliated with institutions in Taiwan must involve
cooperation with one or more scholars from other countries. Applicants
for conference and seminar grants must be affiliated with a university or other academic
institution. Funding for approved grants are normally distributed through the
accounting organ of this institution.
The maximum amount of each award is NT$1,500,000.
In principle, the Foundation does not provide funding for annual meetings.
Application materials must include:
Letters of support from the applicant's home institution, the cooperating foreign institution, and the cooperating foreign co-director.
Application form, including project abstract (in Chinese and English), project description, and budget.
Curriculum vitae of the project director and the foreign co-director, including lists of publications over the last five years that are related to the proposed project.
Conference schedule and list of participants, as well as titles and abstracts of the papers to be presented.
Applications should not exceed the limits for grant amounts and grant duration as stated in the program descriptions given above.
Project directors who are currently receiving Foundation aid are ineligible to apply.
Project directors may not submit more than one application. Please inform the Foundation if applying for financial assistance from other organizations at the same time. If a project director receives aid from another source after the Foundation has already decided to support the project, please inform the Foundation within 7 days after being informed by the alternate funding organization.
The Foundation does not subsidize the salaries of project directors or their overseas co-directors.
Funds for Conference and Seminar Grants may not be used to cover publication costs. Grantees anticipating the need for additional funding to cover such costs are welcome to apply for one of the Foundation’s Publication Subsidies grants.
The Foundation does not subsidize administrative expenses or the purchase of equipment.
Foundation funds can only be transferred to and managed by institutional accounts. Letters of support from the applicant's institution must express the institution's willingness to comply with these procedures.

For personnel, travel, and other research expenses, please refer to the standard set by the National Science Council.
For projects that exceed one year, please provide a year-by-year breakdown of budget expenditures.
